Pilot Master
This little program was created to help private pilots file appropriate FLIGHT
PLANS for their safety and enjoyment. The file comes ARCed with the following
necessary files:
PM21.EXE = MAIN PROGRAM
PM21.DOC = THIS DOC FILE
ALL.DAT = ALL AIRPORTS
CENTRAL.DAT = CENTRAL STATES
WESTERN.DAT = WESTERN STATES
EASTERN.DAT = EASTERN STATES
DWH-CMH.X = DEMO FLIGHT PLAN
C172-90F.OVL = DEMO AIRCRAFT DATA
You should DE-ARC these files using PKXARC programs.
******** D I S C L A I M E R *******
The data files contain hundreds of airports and VOR stations normally found in
the "JEPPESEN AIRWAY MANUAL" and NOTAMS. The information is correct to the best
of my knowledge and was updated 11-18-87. However, we disclaim any
responsibility for errors in these data files or your inability to properly
file an FAA approved flight plan using this program. All pilots are WARNED to
follow FAA approved guidelines for filing flight plans.
We will try to update the JEPPESEN DATA as often as it arrives so you can
always log on to LINX for the latest version.
********* U S I N G P I L O T M A S T E R *********
The program is MENU driven and all DATA files MUST reside on the same disk or
directory as PM21.EXE. The "?" mark key (shift unnecessary) brings up HELP
menus throughout the program.
You will notice that the "F1" key flashes when you first begin the program.
This is to warn you to LOAD one of the data files before continuing. After a
data file has been loaded, the "F1" key stops flashing.
Before you decide what departure and destination airport you wish to select, it
is recommended that you LIST ALL AIRPORTS using the "F6" key. Select the number
corresponding to the airports that you wish to select and then ESCape back to
the MAIN MENU. After you know the departure and destination airport numbers you
can use the function key "F2" to select the individual airports. At this time,
all of the proper information concerning these airports is loaded and is
printed on the FLIGHT PLAN SHEET.
To fill out the FLIGHT PLAN SHEET, select "F3" and the cursor will jump to the
AIRCRAFT IDENTIFICATION. Simply enter the data and press RETurn to go to the
next field. Continue this procedure until you have completed the FLIGHT PLAN
SHEET. If you have loaded a particular aircraft data file then some of the
information will be noted on the FLIGHT PLAN SHEET, such as aircraft
identification and true airspeed.
Function key "F5" will bring up another screen and allow you to enter waypoints
for your flight, airspeed, load, save, print and otherwise manipulate the
actual WAYPOINT ENTRIES. You can also calculate SUNRISE and SUNSET times and
GREAT CIRCLE DISTANCES. (You will notice that the great circle distance is
automatically calculated at the MAIN MENU after you select your departure and
destination airports. (It flashes at the bottom of the screen.)
Function key "F8" brings up a perpetual calendar and allows you to select the
flight date at the touch of a few keys. Simply enter the month and year or
press return for the current month. The arrow keys move the cursor to the day
you select and the space bar selects that date for your flight plan. The
calendar is also useful for quick references. The PgDn key will scroll the
calendar back one month and the PgUp key scrolls the calendar forward one
month.
Selection "F7" from the MAIN MENU allows you to calculate weather conditions
based on the current data that you provide. You can get this information from
your local newspapers and/or television and radio reports. ATIS reports are the
norm. However, this module is a valuable tool for the VFR pilot and even
calculates DEW POINT measurements.
Selection "F4" will bring up the aircraft data log. There is a simple "chain"
calculator for determining fuel usage, weight and moment calculations, etc.
Pilots should be familiar with these calculations and the text is only for
simple reference. You can store many AIRCRAFT data files for PRE-FLIGHT use.
WHAT'S NEW: 11/05/87
=====================
Version 1.09 had a few bugs. We have corrected most of them but we are
continuing to upgrade PILOT MASTER. We are now asking for donations to help us
in our work and would appreciate any amount you may wish to send. Version 2.1
is being written in "C" and will include airways and displays for the
continental U.S. and Canada. Anyone who sends in a donation of $15.00 or more
will be placed on our mailing list and will receive absolutely FREE any and all
upgrades on mailed disk(s). Please include your complete address and a phone
contact, if possible. Our address is in the program and at the end of this
documentation.
Upgraded CENTRAL.DAT and EASTERN.DAT from current Jeppesen Manual.
WHAT'S NEW: 12/07/87
=====================
We have now included a file called ALL.DAT which contains all of the airports
listed in the entire data directory. This way you can plan a complete cross-
country flight from JFK to LAX. All of the data files have been updated from
the current Jeppesen Manual. Many users were wanting to plan longer flights so
we added this feature.

Pilot Master
I hope that you enjoy this little program. You can always download the latest
version of the program from...
LINX BBS (713) 440-7364 Houston, Texas
We also have several programs for the serious user of MICROSOFT'S FLIGHT
SIMULATOR program.
1. FSP2-1.ARC - a flight planner for Flight Simulator with all of the VOR
and navigation aids frequences listed for the original scenery disk and ALL
SCENERY DISKS (STARS & 1-11). This sure helps having to look up the data in the
manual(s). You can file flight plans and save them to disk. Then when you want
to begin your flight you can have the necessary navigation frequences available
and set your flying conditions using the EDIT (ESC) key. It really helps the
pilot. Just print them out and the data is all available for the EDIT. It's a
real co-pilot.
2. FSADV200.ARC - This little program will keep you locked into your room
for hours as you explore 112 different Flight Simulator flying parameters.
You can see the Brookland Bridge, Statue of Liberty, New York's Twin Towers
and even land in Central Park. Fly around the Space Needle in Seattle and into
the twilight zone where you don't have any idea where you are. Several
parameters are given which set you up for proper glideslopes to ILS equipped
airports. This saves you much time actually flying into the proper condition.
You can print out all 112 scenerios and keep them in your lap while flying.
Has ALL scenery disk information included. Star disks and 1-7. Guaranteed to
keep you occupied for a long time.

Pilot Master
I would like to thank Phil Baughn (MAILROOM BBS (606)-293-5119 and his
associates for contributing the WEATHER module for this program amd FSP2-1.
Their hard work has given the pilot an extensive weather reporting system. If
there is anyother code in this program that you have written, please notify me
ASAP so that proper credit can be given to you. Donations gladly accepted.

Send your hate mail to the neighbor across the street. I am always open for
suggestions and this program will certainly be improved upon regularly. I can
only suggest that you try to get on LINX BBS. With over 3500 users nationwide
the lines seem to remain busy. Just put it on autodial and you will get in.
Every user has 100 minutes to use the system once logged on. It is a FREE-
ACCESS BBS and I don't count uploads or validate users. Just keep it public
domain and clean.
